Robin D. Swisher, 78, of Seymour, passed away Tuesday August 21, 2012, at Covered Bridge Health Campus.
Born February 11, 1934, in North Vernon, IN, he was the son of B.R. “Barney” and Sara Elizabeth (Zebell) Swisher. On February 6, 1959, in Seymour, IN, he married Elizabeth Ann Kramer.
Mr. Swisher graduated from North Vernon High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the destroyer Hazelwood during the Korean War. After 38 years he retired from Cummins as a technician, working at both the Seymour and Columbus plants. He was a member of the Elks and the American Legion, both of Seymour.
Survivors include his wife Ann; a sister, MariJane Weaver; nephews, Bob (Susan) Bowman, Jeff Swisher, Gordon (Joy) Swisher, Wes (Betty) Swisher, Donnie Weaver, Darrel Bowerly and David (Rose) Bowerly; nieces, Robin Sue (Randy) Rayburn and Sallie Ann Weaver; great-nephews, Andy (Amanda) Bowman, Bobby Bowman, Andrew Swisher and Vince McMullen; great-nieces, Tiffany Swisher, Ronnie Swisher, Ellen Swisher and Meredith McMullen; great-great-nephews, Brady Bowman and Elliot Davis; and great-great-nieces, Madalyn Bowman and Esmarelda Vasquez.
He was preceded in death by both parents; a sister Virginia Thut; and a brother, George B. (Bud) Swisher.
Services will be held at Voss Chapel on Friday, August 24, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Bill Everhart officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.
Friends may call at Voss Chapel on Thursday, August 23, 2012, from 4:00- 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
