Berna Lee DeWitt Stark, 82, of Seymour, went home to her Lord on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at Hoosier Christian Village, surrounded by her loving family.

Berna Lee was born in Crothersville, IN, September 5, 1929, to the late Emmett Gillaspy DeWitt and Louise Mathena DeWitt. She lived most of her life in southern Indiana and graduated from Austin High School as valedictorian in 1947.

She met Clarence "Butch" Stark Jr. in 1947 and they wed September 12, 1947. Mr. Stark passed away August 16, 1993.

Mrs. Stark was a homemaker for many years and worked for the Seymour Community Schools for 30 years, retiring in 2003. She also served as President of the Lincoln School P.T.A.

Mrs. Stark was a 65-year member of First Baptist Church, having joined in 1947. She served as Deaconess, member of BYCO Club, Class President, member of the Rebekah Class, member of the Missionary Society, member of the Golden Owls, member of the Welcome Committee and also sang in the choir.

She was active in all of her children’s and grandchildren’s lives.

She is survived by her sons, Dennis Michael Stark (Debbie Dillard Stark), Steven Clarence Stark (Peggy Stahl Stark), David Lee Stark (Tina Daniels Stark), and Thomas Gene Stark (Edwin M. Ray); grandchildren, Michael (Mika) Stark, Aaron (Marieclaire) Stark, Anna Stark, Rachel Stark, Sara (Kevin) Gribbins, Bradley (Katie) Stark, Ryan Stark, Andy Stark, David (Sarah) Stark, Amanda (Rocky) Wilson, Daniel Stark and John (fiancée Kelsey Worth) Stark; great-granddaughters, Allison Gribbins, Lillian and Eliza Wilson, Peyton and Grace Stark; and great-grandsons, Jacob Kooistra, Brayden, Owen and Grayson Stark, Konnor, Parker and Jackson Gribbins, Jaden Ramey, Elijah Stark and Ayden Stark.

Mrs. Stark was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, Emmett Dale DeWitt, Joe Mahlon DeWitt, Robert Gene DeWitt and Ervin Eddie DeWitt, and a sister-in-law, Reba Johnson DeWitt.

Funeral services will be held at Seymour First Baptist Church on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Bruce E. Cochran and Rev. David Stark officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour. Friends may call at Voss Chapel on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until time of the service.

Memorials may be made to Seymour First Baptist Church Hand Bell Choir Fund, First Baptist Tree Fund or to the First Baptist Church Women’s Studies Fund.
