Violet M. Mauzy, 82, of Parkside Court, formerly of North U.S. 31, died at 3:05 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Miller's Merry Manor in Hope.

She was born in Bartholomew County, March 8, 1930, the daughter of Varnald M. and Sophia Ann Kasza Mauzy.

Violet had been a cook at Hardee's and McDonald's and assisted shut-ins with personal needs. She had been a longtime member of New Hope Christian Church, where she sang in the choir; she was a member of and enjoyed playing in the Kitchen Hands Band at Parkside Court and the Busy Hands at Miller's Merry Manor.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at New Hope Christian Church, 1404 W 400 N, Columbus. John Sichting will officiate.

Calling will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time today, Tuesday, at the church. Burial will be at New Hope Christian Church Cemetery.

She is survived by nieces, Debra (Curtis) Clark of Columbus and Dana Mauzy of Kansas City, Mo.; a nephew, Rick Mauzy of Hawaii; a sister-in-law, Barbara (Don) Andrews of Columbus; three great-nieces; two great-nephews; a great-great-niece; a great-great-nephew; and one anticipated great-great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Cirdie "Cirt" Mauzy.
