Clara N. Wendowski, 96, passed away at 6:20 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Four Seasons Health Care Center, Columbus.
Clara was born on September 14, 1915, in South Bend, to the late John and Josephine (Wolter) Cwidak. On October 12, 1940, she married Ernest Wendowski who preceded her in death in 1995. She was also preceded in death by her five brothers, Walter, Leo, Ted, Al and Clem; and by her sisters, Marie Radecki and Lillian Andrysiak.
Surviving Clara is a son, Paul A. (Catherine) Wendowski of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Michael (Karen) Wendowski of Indianapolis, IN, and Jill (Eric) Meyers of Needham, MA; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Heidi and Chloe Wendowski and Allison, Kirsten and Lauren Meyers. She is also survived by her sister, Irene Nemeth of South Bend.
Clara was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She was also a member of Daughters of Isabella. After moving to Columbus, she was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of Four Seasons for their exceptional care and attention throughout Clara’s stay.
Family and friends may gather at St. Joseph Cemetery where a funeral service will be celebrated for Clara at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 7, 2012, in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 1306 27th St., Columbus, IN 47201.
