Phylis M. Vest, 81, of Columbus, died at 7:55 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at the Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
She was born to Olin B. and Edith Smith Wolfe Oct. 12, 1930, in Monticello, Ill. She married Harry C. Vest, Jr. on Oct. 7, 1950, in Decatur, Ill. He preceded her in death July 10, 2011.
Surviving are daughters, Debora Vest Tungett (Mike) of Columbus; Sheri Lynn (Rex Graham) Sizemore of Columbus; one brother and four sisters in Illinois; grandchildren, Charles Sizemore of Greenwood, and Nicole (Will) Kinman of Columbus; niece Donna (Charlie) Henderson of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and one brother.
She worked 15 years for Borg-Warner in Decatur, Ill., and worked several years at the former Cow Palace in Columbus. She and her husband co-owned and operated Sunoco Gas Stations in Columbus, Hanover and Indianapolis.
She loved children and pets, and supported many animal organizations.
In keeping with Mrs. Vest’s wishes, there will be no service. Private inurnment for the family will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum at a later date. Arrangements were by Hathaway-Myers Chapel. Online condolences may be made to the family at hathaway-myers.com.
