Mary Louise Harper, 81, formerly of Hope, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012, at the home of her daughter in Zion, IL.
She was a member of Hawcreek Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed camping and being with family and friends.
The funeral will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Hawcreek Missionary Baptist Church in Hope with Pastor Daniel Bragg officiating. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope.
Memorial contributions may be donated to the Alzheimer's Foundation through the funeral home.
Born September 3, 1931, in Edmonton, Ky., Mary Louise was the daughter of Henry and Katie Pauline (Froedge) Compton. She married Gordon D. Harper November 14, 1945, and he preceded her in death October 1, 1981.
Survivors include sons, Bill (Becky) Harper of Columbus, Danny (Bonita) Harper of Columbus, Ricky (Liz) Harper of Columbus and Douglas Harper of Hartsville; a daughter, Joyce (Cookie) Stroup of Zion, IL; twelve grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mary Louise was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gordon, Howard and Paul Compton; a daughter-in-law, Jeanette Wilson Harper; and three great-granddaughters.
