Robert Eugene Sturgill, 66, of Erlanger, Kentucky, passed away at 4:10 a.m. on Friday, September 14, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare–Edgewood in Edgewood, Kentucky.
Born April 15, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of the late James and Eileen (Fleming) Sturgill.
Robert worked for the U.S. Post Office in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was a member of the Iron Workers Union. He served in the U.S. Navy. He loved smoking cigars, suntanning and watching sports, especially the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals.
He is survived by the following loved ones: His companion, Connie Keenan of Erlanger, Kentucky; one son, Michael Scott (Daphne) Sturgill of Columbus, Indiana; one daughter, Heather Sturgill of Boulder, Colorado; one stepson, Nicholas (Amy) Keenan of Erlanger, Kentucky; five brothers, Dennis Sturgill of Ross, Ohio, Jim, David and Dale Sturgill, all of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Wayne Sturgill of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two sisters, Alma O’Neal and Connie Orick, both of Arkansas; one granddaughter, Isabella Sturgill of Columbus, Indiana; and five stepgrandchildren, Shawn, Noah, Cheyenne, Kiley and Little Nick.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bruce and Bryan Sturgill.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at the Columbus General Baptist Church, 2710 Clifty Street, Columbus, Indiana, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon were entrusted with the care of the arrangements.
