The Rev. Alfred H. Nead, 89, of Central Avenue, died at 1:20 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Miller's Merry Manor in Hope.
Rev. Nead was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Ohio Valley Presbytery and was a Presbyterian minister, serving churches in Indiana and Ohio before retiring in 1988.
He enjoyed his family and his hobbies included stamp collecting and fishing.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Robert H. Craig officiating.
The family will receive friends and family in the Laws Room at the church following the service.
Inurnment will take place at David's Cemetery in Kettering, Ohio.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
Arrangements were made by Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home.

Born in Dayton, Ohio, August 13, 1923, Rev. Nead was the son of Monte C. and Margaret Mercer Nead. He married Betty Fort June 27, 1943.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years; sons, Patrick (Susan) Nead of Bloomington and Samuel (Danica) Nead of Hillsdale, Michigan; daughters, Barbara Nead of Nashville and Sheila (Anthony) Canales of Granada Hills, CA; and four grandchildren.
Rev. Nead was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Timothy Nead; a brother, Dr. Dennis Nead and a sister, Virginia Nead.
