Richard J. Taylor, 78, of Road 475E, died Sunday, September 30, 2012, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Richard was born on August 17, 1934, in Russiaville, Indiana, to the late George and Dorothy Land Taylor. He graduated from Kokomo High School in 1952.
Richard served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1955 then worked for IBM from 1955 to1960. In 1964 he earned a Bachelor of Engineering Science Degree at Johns Hopkins University and in 1966 he earned his Master's of Electrical Engineering at the Case Institute of Technology. Richard was employed at Cummins Engine Company/Cummins Electronics from 1966 to January of 1996.
In 1958 he met Nancy L. Gibbon in Abqaiq, Saudi Arabia. They were married August 11, 1962, at University Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland.
A celebration of life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Inurnment will take place at Crown Point Cemetery in Kokomo, Indiana.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Nancy L. Taylor of Columbus; sons, Richard J. Taylor of Madison, Wisconsin, and William P. Taylor of Littleton, Massachusetts; and a daughter-in-law, Maureen Taylor of Littleton, Massachusetts.
