Marjorie G. (Ketchem) Cornell, 83, Martinsville, passed away at 10:10 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2012, at the Columbus Regional Hospital.
She was born on Tuesday, October 30, 1928, in Odon, Indiana, to the late Hollis Ketchem and Treva Gail (Williams) Ketchem Todd.
Marjorie married Charles L. “Chuck” Cornell on August 17, 1949, and he died on September 3, 1999.
Marjorie was a 1946 graduate of Elnora High School at Elnora, Indiana. She graduated in 1950 from Indiana State University where she received her B.S. Degree in elementary and special education. Then in 1972 she received her Master's Degree.
Marjorie retired in 1991 after 19 years from the MSD of Martinsville where she had taught first grade. Prior to that she had taught in California, the Philippines, Kansas and Michigan.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Martinsville being active as a Sunday School teacher, the Ladies Circle and an active member of the church choir and the Bell Choir. She was also a member of the Paragon Literary Club and O.E.S. No. 210 in Washington, Indiana.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Grace Cornell of Butlerville; son, Charles Owen Cornell and wife Barbara of San Pedro, California; and a granddaughter, Hannah Cornell of San Antonio, Texas.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, William H. Ketchem.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2012, at Costin Funeral Chapel with Dr. Mark Poindexter officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Costin Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the funeral service.
Entombment will be at Nebo Memorial Park in Martinsville.
