Ruth E. Stafford, age 97, of Seymour, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Schneck Medical Center, in Seymour.
She was born on March 3, 1915 in Uniontown, to Clyde Vern and Mary Mell Love Grantham. She was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and a member of Seymour Christ Temple for more than 53 years. She was a homemaker and an accomplished pianist, having played for her church for over 50 years. She married Samuel T. Stafford, on March 27, 1942 in Jackson County.
Ruth is survived by a son, Roger D. (Nancy) Stafford; a daughter, Carolyn S. (Don) Stouder; seven grandchildren, John Allen (Cathy) Coryea, David (Barbara) Coryea, Sherri Jo Rider, Dennis Wayne (Michele) Allman, Shanon Denise Allman, Jeanie (Keith) Fulp, and Janie (Vergil) Fellows; 13 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Dennis Allman.
She was preceded in death by both parents, two daughters, Wilma C. Coryea and Sharon K. Allman; and two sisters, Emma Weddle and Christine Grantham.
Friends may call at Seymour Christ Temple, 607 Euclid Avenue, Seymour, on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. with the funeral service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Allman officiating.
Private family graveside services will be held at a later date at Riverview Cemetery with a Voss Dove release. Funeral Services have been entrusted to Voss Funeral Service in Seymour.
