Virginia May Powell, 88, of Hope, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at the home of her son.
Mrs. Powell at one time had been manager of Northside School Cafeteria. She was a member of Hope Moravian Church and her grandchildren were very important in her life.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Rev. Jeff VanOrden officiating. Viewing hours will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Born in Indianapolis Sept. 15, 1924, Mrs. Powell was the daughter of Arthur and Ethel Vielhaber Montgomery. She married Harold R. Powell on May 15, 1942, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Larry C. (Vanessa) Powell of Columbus; grandchildren, Roxana J. Bonnell (Jeff), Briana S. and Liana L. Bonnell, Amanda L. Powell-Zeller (Matthew), Carly B. Smith (Adam) and Meghann Schoettmer; great-grandchildren, Isabel C. and Thomas C. and Samira P. Zeller, Briseis Powell March Banks , Cambria S. and Lincoln J. Smith and Belle and Scarlet Schoettmer; and a sister, Louise (Stanley) Embry of Hope.
Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her husband, Harold R. Powell; a daughter, Carole Sue Bonnell; and a grandson, Brett A. Bonnell.
