Carroll F. Lee, 95, of Edinburgh, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
He was born Easter Sunday, April 8, 1917, in rural Bartholomew County, now Camp Atterbury, the son of Charles and Myrta (Yates) Lee. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Rex, Robert E. and Byron.
Mr. Lee attended a one-room grade school in the Atterbury area and graduated from Edinburgh High School in 1935. He retired from Cummins in 1980 after 37 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, Civil War history, puzzles, euchre and golf. He often recited from memory long historical speeches and poems.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Edinburgh, a former member of Holy Name Society and CREAK Club and had been a volunteer at Columbus Regional Hospital and Nineveh Senior Center.
He married Mariana Wright July 3, 1950. She survives.
He also leaves two sons, John Lee of Edinburgh and David (Karin) Lee of Clifford; two daughters, Catherine (George) Clift and Mary Sue McConnell, both of Indianapolis; five grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Edinburgh, with Father John Beitans officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery.
