Robert E. Myers, 71 of Taylorsville, died at 7:25 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2012, at his home.
Mr. Myers was born in Bartholomew County, on February 10, 1941, the son of the late Jesse Millard and Ruth Agnes Baxter Myers.
He married L. Darlene Burton in Bartholomew County on January 22, 1960, and she survives.
Mr. Myers owned Myers Contracting & Excavating Company where he was a retired construction worker.
He was a former stock car driver and he enjoyed basketball and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
A graveside service celebrating the life of Mr. Myers will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Garland Brook Cemetery with the Rev. Dale L. Goddard officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Surviving with his wife of over 52 years are two sons, Gary G. (Sabrina) Myers of Columbus, and David O. (Tina) Myers of Worthington; a daughter, Terry L. (Patrick) Bryant of Taylorsville; four grandchildren, Natasha (Tracy) Bock of Taylorsville, Kaleigh and Mallory Myers, both of Columbus, and Jesse Myers of Worthington; and a great-grandson, Dominik Pinkey of Taylorsville.
Along with his parents, Mr. Myers was also preceded in death by a sister, Shirley A. Rarey; and a brother, Richard Allen Myers.
