The Rev. David C. Cummings, 61, recently of Newbern, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012.
David pastored at United Methodist Churches in Indiana and North Carolina from 1984 until 2008, when he retired. Churches served in Indiana were Trafalgar, Waldron, Newbern, Connersville, Indianapolis and Evansville.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Jo and Earl J. Cummings; and his sister, Debbie, formerly of Ellwood City, Pa.
David is survived by his beloved daughter, Krysta Jo Cummings of Decatur Ga.; his sister, Susan Cummings of Albuquerque, N.M.; and his brother, T. Earl Cummings of Gulf Breeze, Fla.. His niece, Debi Cummings, various cousins and friends all mourn his passing.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Newbern United Methodist Church.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Newbern Methodist Church. Burial will be in Ellwood City, Pa., at a later date.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Newbern United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, or the local animal shelter of your choosing, through Norman Funeral Home at 604 Main St., Hope, IN, 47246.
