Ryan John Robbins, 40, of Sycamore St., died on November 8, 2012 at Methodist Hospital of a heart aneurysm.

He was born in Seymour on June 15, 1972, the son of John R. Robbins and Vicki Hukill Sommer. He married Terri Southerland on June 6, 2000.

He was a graduate of Central High School in Louisville, Ky. Ryan served in the United States Air Force at Ellsworth Air Force Base, Rapid City, S.D. from 1991 to 1995, as a senior airman in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Ryan currently worked for the City of Columbus Parks and Recreation Department.

Ryan had a passion for the game of softball. He competed in major and class A and B softball for 20 years. He won numerous world championships in NSA, ASA and USSSA. Ryan was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Ryan is survived by his wife, Terri Southerland-Robbins of Columbus; daughters, Sophia Grace Robbins of Columbus, and Kassie Jackson Robbins of Orlando, Fla.; his father and stepmother, John R. Robbins and Julia Laupus Robbins of Louisville Ky.; his mother and stepfather, Vicki Hukill Sommer and Robert Sommer of Madison; brothers, William Robbins, Justin Robbins and Jarrett Robbins, all of Louisville Ky.; sisters, Angie Sommer-Hamilton of Madison, and Jennifer Robbins of Queens, N.Y.

Ryan was preceded in death by one brother, Robbie Jacob Sommer; his grandmother, Patricia Vondielingen; and beloved uncle, Gary Hukill of Seymour.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jeffery Pflug officiating. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, with military honors.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ryan J. Robbins Memorial Fund established through the funeral home.
