Odean Likens, 89, of Hiker Trace, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at her home.
Odean retired from Sap's Bakery, now known as Dolly Madison, in 1985 after 23 years of service. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially cooking for them.
Odean had a great sense of humor. She was a very kind and giving person, always thinking of others before herself.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Bridgewater officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Born in Union Hill, Tenn., Oct. 9, 1923, Odean was the daughter of Luther Smith and Eliza Cherry Smith. She married William Amos Likens, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son, Jack Likens, Columbus, IN; a daughter, Sandy (Robert) Proffitt, Columbus, IN; a sister, Eselene Anderson, Sullivan, IL; grandchildren, Eric (Lisa) Likens, Brad Likens, Dale (Alison) Likens, Brooke (David) Salisbury, Taylor Wolford and Hunter Wolford; and great-grandchildren, Tristan, Carson, Jack, William, Ben, Henry, Neal and Jerry Likens.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, Jerry Likens; four brothers; two sisters; and a granddaughter, Susan Likens.
