Shirley Ellen Phillips, 86 of Lexington, Indiana went to be with her Lord on
Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg,
Indiana. Shirley was born on March 18, 1926 in McKinley, Wisconsin, the
daughter of the late James Madison Emry and Dora I. (Kablau) Emry-Rehn. She
was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse at King's Daughters' Hospital in
Madison, Indiana, also worked at Shady Lane Nursing Home and Bartholomew
County Hospital both in Columbus, Indiana and Ken Joy Nursing Home in Hope,
Indiana. Shirley was a member of the Coffee Creek Christian Church in Paris
Crossing, Indiana, where she was former President and member of the Golden
Bunch Senior Club, a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years, a member of
the Willing Workers Ladies Fellowship and helped with Vacation Bible School
for years. She also enjoyed reading, animals, gardening, canning, making
maple syrup and butter. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia
A. Phillips-Palmer; a granddaughter, Racquel Erwin; three sisters, Ruth
Richson, Carol LaPorte and Anna Mae Emry and a brother Timothy Earl Emry.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Fred Phillips; a son, Michael
Wayne Myers and his wife Flo Rafferty Myers of New Braunfels, Texas; three
daughters, Deborah Diane Phillips of Lexington, Kentucky, Belinda Gregory
and her husband Lymon of Edinburgh, Indiana and Amber Pearson and her
husband Alvin of Lexington, Indiana; three sisters, Nellie Hudson of
Seattle, Washington, Florence Debley of Poulsbo, Washington and Pearl Howard
of Hawkins, Wisconsin and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and
great great grandchildren. Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Friday, Nov. 16, 2012
at Coffee Creek Christian Church with Brother Jimmy Soblotne officiating.
Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Thursday at Collins Funeral Home and after noon Friday
at Coffee Creek Christian Church. Interment will be in Lexington Cemetery
