Monte Dean Summers, 61, of Brown County, died unexpectedly at 9:04 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, in Columbus.
Monte grew up in Madison County and graduated from Highland High School in 1969. He attended Ball State University and South Meridian Church of God in Anderson.
A master craftsman, he constructed many fine homes in and around the Brown County area. He will also be remembered as a true outdoorsman, enjoying camping, hiking, fishing and hunting.
He loved the American West and its history. He and his wife shared numerous trips into the Rocky Mountain region.
Over all, his strong faith in God sustained him and his family.
Monte was born in Anderson, on July 7, 1951, the son of John and Katherine Dilts Summers. He married Debra Schmit on September 5, 1980.
Family and friends may call from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike.
A private family service is planned at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service in Anderson.
Burial will be at Bronnenberg Cemetery in Chesterfield.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Debbie Schmit Summers; his father, John Summers of Anderson; a sister, Melody Hull of Alexandria; and a brother, Meredith Summers of Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Summers.
