James A. Wright, 64, of South Mapleton Street, died at 10:03 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
James was born in Columbus August 11, 1948, to the late Ora F. Wright and Opal Pike Cochran. He married Diana Hunter Hoppus September 9, 1985, in Columbus. She survives.
A 1968 graduate of Columbus High School, he retired from Cummins Engine Company after 41 years of service and was a member of Diesel Workers Union.
James enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, cards, racing and spending time with family and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Charles T. Goodin officiating. Family and friends may call from noon until service time Monday.
Cremation is planned following services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

James is survived by his wife; sons, Greg Wright of Columbus and Kelly Wright of Columbus; stepchildren, Scott Weddle of Columbus, James Hoppus Jr. of Columbus, Jackie (David) Buzzard of Burnsville and Jennifer (Tom) Galloway of Burnsville; a sister, Marjorie (Delbert) Lee of Columbus; a brother, David (Mona) Gates of Clear Springs; sisters, Jolene Dalton of Dayton, OH, and Pattie (Randy) Skeen of Columbus; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Steven and Johnny Wright; and two sisters, Rhonda Christman and Donna Wright.
