Avery G. Garretson, 16, of Edinburgh, died at 9:58 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
A student at Edinburgh High School, he attended Community Church of Columbus and enjoyed outside sports like skating and fishing, and was inspired to become a UFC fighter. He took great pride in working the swing shift with all his fellow co-workers at Challenge Plastics.
He had a great respect for the United States Marine Corps and one day hoped to either join the elite service or pursue a college education to become a computer software engineer. He was an excellent student and absolutely loved French class.
Avery was a very loyal friend.
A private family service is planned at a later date with the Rev. Scott Hundley officiating.Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh.

Avery was born in Columbus Jan. 26, 1996, the son of Russell Garretson and Melissa A. Norton Garretson.
Survivors include his father, of Connersville; his mother, of Edinburgh; his stepfather, William Davis of Edinburgh; grandparents, Thomas Avery and Kathy Norton of Edinburgh, Connie Marcum of Connersville and William and Julie Davis of Edinburgh; a great-grandmother, Bertie West of Marietta; brothers, Kenneth and Lowell Garretson of Connersville and Kyle Sheckles of Taylorsville; aunts, Alice Chastain and Ashley Norton of Edinburgh and Anne Davis of Columbus; uncles, Noah Norton of Edinburgh and Richard Pickett of Franklin; a niece, Brooklyn; and several cousins and friends.
