Steve R. Heck, 61, of Columbus, passed from this life at 10:10 a.m. Friday, December 7, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Heck was employed at Golden Foundry and retired from the City of Columbus Parks & Recreation Department.
He was a member of the Columbus Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge and the American Legion.
A sports enthusiast, Steve was an avid golfer and softball player and enjoyed basketball.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Mark Jones officiating.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday.
Cremation is planned following the service.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Community Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.) or the donor's choice of charities.

Born in Columbus, February 3, 1951, Mr. Heck was the son of Daniel and Florence L. Whitehorn Heck.
Survivors include his daughters, Stephanie Heck, Holly (Brian) Kuznicki and Tammy (William) McCue, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Courtland and Karen Robertson; a sister, Marilyn Nichols of Columbus; brothers, Arnold Heck of Columbus and Allen Dale (Alice) Heck of Taylorsville; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mr. Heck was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Betty Wilson, Charlene Peak, Janet Pedigo and Pauline Caldwell.
