James (Jim) “Butch” William Butcher, 74, of Spencer, passed on to meet his heavenly Father on December 8, 2012, while surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born to Katherine (Mobley) and Clifford Butcher in Monroe County on January 18, 1938. He graduated from Bloomington Senior High School and was a proud Army Veteran. He retired from UPS and most recently was working at Rural King in Vincennes. He was a member of the Bloomington VFW. Jim was of the Christian faith.
Jim is survived by his son, Brian Butcher of Spencer; brother, Jade (Gail) Butcher of Stinesville; grandchildren, Michael and Kelly; great-grandchild, Gage; mother-in-law, Esther Withem of Spencer; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Sybil (Withem) Butcher; and brother, Jerry Butcher.
Jim will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman whose greatest love was family. He was a friend to all he met and will be sorely missed.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012, at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Pete Withem will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday.
