James "Rick" Thomas, 63, of McClure Road, died at 8:10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at his home.
In 2009, Rick retired as grounds superintendent at Garland Brook Cemetery where he had worked for 43 years.
He was also the owner of Rick Thomas Appliance Store. He enjoyed music and played in the band Chapter II.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Tracy McIntyre officiating.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to time of service Friday.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Rick was born in Madison, February 19, 1949, the son of Wesley E. and Lois F. Bennett Thomas.
Survivors include his children, Tracy Schrum, Lisa Thomas and Kim (Tony) Schuette, all of Columbus; brother, Raymond (Barb) Thomas of Columbus; sisters, Roxie (Gary) Rowlett of Madison, Linda McClure of Edinburgh, Kay (Darrell) Douglas of North Vernon and Lily (Kelvin) Combs of Freetown; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Wesley E. Thomas Jr. and John L. Thomas.
