Ada Melissa Shutters, 97, of Butlerville, passed away at 2:43 a.m. Monday, December 17, 2012, at her residence.
Born March 13, 1915, in Butlerville, Indiana, she was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Elsie Cathy Laherty. She married Lawrence Shutters who preceded her in death January 26, 1997.
Ada was a homemaker. She had been a member of the Butlerville Baptist Church all her life and was a member of Oakdale Community Club and Butlerville Homemakers Club. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross in Jennings County and enjoyed needlepoint, gardening, crocheting and sewing, especially doll clothes.
Survivors include her niece and nephew, DeAnn Yeager of Butlerville, Indiana, and Kenneth Olson of Indianapolis, Indiana; her brother-in-law, Dean Perkins of Butlerville, Indiana; four great-nephews; one great-niece; one great-great-nephew; and four great-great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sisters, Vera Olson and Olive Perkins.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon, Indiana, with the Rev. Mike Stroh officiating. Friends may call at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at Butlerville Cemetery in Butlerville, Indiana.
Memorials may be made through Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services to the American Diabetes Association, Hospice of Jennings County or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
