Richard A. Bell, 73, of Hawpatch Drive, died at 12:45 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2012, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Richard was born in Milan, Indiana, August 24, 1939, to the late Forrest A. and Dorothy A. Grinstead Bell. He married Barbara A. Barnard September 21, 1968. She preceded him in death December 27, 2009.
Richard was a member of the American Legion in Garden City and Garden City Church of Christ and a former member of East Columbus Christian Church. He enjoyed photography and writing non-fiction.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Ron Voss and Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Burial was at Bethel Baptist Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to Garden City Church of Christ.

Richard is survived by his children, Richard Alex Bell, Michelle A. (Chuck) Bryant, Heather A. (Keith) Olmstead, Chris A. Bell and David A. Bell, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Caleb Bryant, Haley Bryant, Bryce Christian, Zander Christian, Noah Christian and Alyssa Bell; brothers, Jerry (Betty) Bell of Brown County and Wayne (Linda) Bell of Taylorsville; and a sister, Nola Burton of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Shane Bell; grandsons, Levi Bryant and Zackary Bell; a sister, Carol Green; and a brother, Don Bell.
