Irene Wilson, 78, of Lafayette Street, left this world from our hands to His, Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at 1:26 a.m., peacefully surrounded by her family.
Irene was very active in the Apostolic Bible Church where she was a member. She enjoyed roses, gardening and yard sales.
Irene enjoyed Jimmy Swaggart’s singing and preaching, as well as listening to George Jones and Conway Twitty. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irene was very thoughtful of the elderly. She was a devoted Mother and Nanny.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Kelly and the Rev. Ed Boston officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Born in Franklin, Indiana, April 16, 1934, Irene was the daughter of David Burton and Martha Burton Burton.
She is survived by sons, Jerry (Sharon) Wilson, Terry D. (Danielle) Wilson and Tim (Sheila) Wilson, all of Columbus; a daughters, Tina Stewart, Columbus, IN; a daughter-in-law, Sherri Wilson, Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Joshua Shane Wilson, Nakia Prince, Nathan Wilson, Shannon Wilson, Brandon Wilson, Anika Moore, Anthony Moore, Zachary Roberts, Jeremy Wilson, John Stewart, Matthew Stewart, Daniel Stewart, Joy Arnold and Chris Davis; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Mark A. Wilson; brothers, Joe Burton, Wilmer Burton and Lilburn Burton; and sisters, Ruby Burton, Ruth Sandefur, Annalee Caldwell, Catherine Roberts, Marie Burton.
