Thomas William Miles, 87, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at his residence.
Thomas was born June 11, 1925 in North Vernon, Indiana, the son of Augustus and Bessie Galamore Miles. He married Deloris Manning on June 21, 1948 in North Vernon, Indiana. She survives.
Thomas retired in 1989 from the former Arvin’s in North Vernon where he had worked for 43 years on the assembly line and as a supervisor.
He was a member of the North Vernon Church of the Nazarene, where he had been a Sunday school teacher and a former Sunday school superintendent. He was a former member of the North Vernon Masonic Lodge #59.
He was a 1943 graduate of North Vernon High School and a US Navy Veteran. His enjoyments were woodworking and traveling.
Surviving with his wife, Deloris Miles of North Vernon, are three daughters, Deloris A. (Randy) Rieckers of Brownstown, Debbie (Bill) Monday and Ruth Ann (Randy) Roberson, both of North Vernon; ten grandchildren, Joye (Gary) Amis, Dee (Jon) Ponsler, Billy Monday, Rick Monday and Brad (Dena) Monday, all of North Vernon, Sam (Wendy) Combest, II of Paris Crossing, Zac (Kristel) Roberson of Fayette, Missouri, Sheena (Mike) Forney of Frankfort, Kelly ( Matt) Klosterman of Dudleytown, and Lisa (Travis) Price of Jonesville; 21 great-grandchildren, Andrea Amis, Gary D. Amis, Alex Amis, Chris Ponsler, Lori Monday, Scotty Monday, Jonathan Monday, Taylor Monday, Rachel Monday, all of North Vernon, Kolton Combest, Karlie Combest, Paisley Bragg and Kailyn Bragg, all of Paris Crossing, Zachary Roberson and Gabe Roberson, both of Crothersville, Thomas Douglas and Wyatt Forney both of Frankfort, Lindsey Klosterman of Dudleytown, Kylie Price and Austin Campbell, both of Jonesville, and Piper Roberson of Fayette, Missouri, and one great-great-grandchild, Addyson Jackson of North Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Harry Miles; five sisters, Edith Lothridge, Ruth Ferdinand, Elizabeth Earl, Minnie Hempstead and Mildred Poole.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the First Church of the Nazarene in North Vernon, with Dr. Randy James officiating. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the Church. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery with members of Matt Hester Post #2021 V.F.W. providing military graveside rites.
