Mrs. Lillian Ann Sharfe Foster, 86, of Crothersville, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Lutheran Community Home.
Born May 15, 1926, in Hyden, KY, she was the daughter of Crawford and Mollie (Maggard) Bowling. She married Luther T. Sharfe on May 10, 1947, in New Albany, IN, and he preceded her in death November 26, 1983. On August 7, 1989, in Jennings County, she married Lester L. Foster, who preceded her in death January 6, 2011.
Lillian was a member of First Marion Baptist Church. She had been employed with the Charlestown Powder Plant and retired from the U.S. Shoe Factory.
Lillian loved working in her flower garden and enjoyed the company of her cats and dogs. She liked playing Skip Bo and Aggravation.
Her greatest enjoyment came from being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lillian was a devoted wife and mother who left a legacy of love to her family.
She is survived by her children, Sandra K. Sharfe (Phil) Sweany and Linda S. Sharfe (Phil) Chapple; grandchildren, Toby Sweany, Travis (Bobbie Sue) Sweany, Denise (Eric) Reedy, and Darren (Krista) Foster; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Jared and Ava Reedy, Riley Foster, Trey and Trigg Sweany; sisters, Wanda Brock and Carol Keen; several nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Eugene Couch; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Sharfe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; infant sisters, June Bowling and Phyllis Jean Bowling; sisters, Mae Howard and Helen Couch; an infant brother, Dennis James Bowling; brothers, Don Bowling and Crawford Bowling Jr.; and a grandson, Chad Sweany.
Funeral services will be held at First Marion Baptist Church on Saturday, January 12, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Hood officiating. Friends may call at Voss Chapel in Seymour Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery with a Voss Dove Release.
Memorials may be written to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, the American Cancer Society, or First Marion Baptist Church.
