Reta I. Crossland, 86, of Columbus, entered eternal life at 11:28 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Reta was born May 18, 1926, in Bartholomew County, to the late John A. and Muriel Ward Richey. On December 24, 1947, she married Samuel A. Crossland, who preceded her in death January 15, 1991. As a resident of Silver Oaks Health Campus, she enjoyed Bible studies, playing games and spending time with family and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Kirby Rupp officiating. Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today and from 9:00 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Reta is survived by her sons, Terry (Linda) Crossland of Columbus and Timothy (Ruth) Crossland of Columbus; grandchildren, Russell Crossland, Sarah Crossland and Matthew Crossland; stepgrandchildren, Karen (Casey) Matern and Robin (J.R.) Owen; five stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Bill (Helen) Richey of Columbus; sisters, Joyce (Eugene) Weiler of Columbus and Gloria (Mike) Hundley of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Seth Crossland, on February 23, 2010; a brother, John R. Richey; and sisters, Betty Jean Richey, Ruth Wright, Dorothy Johnson and Alice Johnson.
