Sharon Kay (Olmsted) Whedon, 72, Martinsville, passed from this life at her residence on January 27, 2013.
She was born December 2, 1940, in Columbus, IN, to the late Glen L. and Grace L. (Allman) Olmsted.
Sharon enjoyed time shared with her family, birds, gardening, visiting with people, church conventions and activities, singing, cooking, ministering to others and her dog, Micah.
She was a member of the Full Gospel Church in Martinsville and she retired from Kennedy Living Center in 2001, where she was activities director. She also formerly worked for Essex/Twigg Corp. and Schwab IGA. She was also a homemaker for many years.
She leaves behind her loving family, including two sons, George (wife, Rebecca) Whedon Jr. and Troy Whedon, Martinsville; one brother, Tony (wife, Deborah) Olmsted of Columbus, IN; seven grandchildren, Troy Whedon Jr., Jason, Christina and Crystal Whedon, Andrea Stafford, Sarah Fletcher and Rachel Childress; five stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her late husband, George Whedon Sr.; and one brother, Paul Olmsted.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, from noon until 2:00 p.m. at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center in Martinsville. Pastor Coy Carpenter will officiate at a service celebrating her life on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
