Mary Ada Smith, 87, of Edinburgh, went to be with her Lord and savior at 10:55 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013, at her residence.
She was born in Cunot, September 7, 1925, the daughter of the late Nathan Bryant and Susie Streeval Bryant McClellan.
She is survived by sons, Marlin (Sue) Smith of Franklin, Steven (Patti) Smith of New Whiteland, Randy (Becky) Smith of Edinburgh and Ernie (Rachel) Smith of Edinburgh; daughters, Fay (Carroll) Ridpath of Edinburgh, Pamela (Samuel) Phelps of Franklin and Edna (Mike) Lawson of Franklin; 24 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Earl N. Smith; brothers, Samuel and Johnny Bryant; sisters, Imogene Campfield, Martha Jordan, Leona Jordan, Betty Carnes and Ruth Bryant; and her stepfather, Robert McClellan.
Mary was a member of The Church of God in Franklin. She retired from the Edinburgh Water Treatment Plant and had formerly worked for Human Services of Franklin, and worked as a cook and baker in area restaurants. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her church, fishing and flower gardening.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at The Church of God in Franklin with the Rev. Danny Carter officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from noon until service time Wednesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Church of God or the American Kidney Fund. Arrangements were made by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home.
