Mary Kathleen (Chambers) Bryant, 85, passed away on Thursday morning, February 7, 2013 in Franklin. Mary was a resident of Franklin.
She was born on January 3, 1928 in Columbus, to Ralph B. Chambers and Ruth Elizabeth (Davis) Chambers. She married Roger H. Bryant on October 2, 1947 in Columbus. He preceded her in passing in 1995.
She is survived by son, Gregory M. (Vicki) Bryant of Whiteland; daughter, Carolyn McFarland of Franklin and Lizabeth A. Bryant of Franklin; five grandchildren, Chris Bryant, April Bryant-Silva, Cecilia Bryant and Monica Bryant-Turner and Adrian McFarland, who passed away in 1994; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings, Pauline Henderson of Columbus and Delpha Lucas of Columbus.
She was preceded in passing by her parents, brothers, Clarence, James and Raymond Chambers; and husband, Roger.
She was a graduate of Seymour High School where she sang in the choir and was a cheerleader. Mary attended Arthur Jordon Music Conservatory.
She was employed by Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh. She then was employed by Cummins Engine in Columbus as a receptionist. She later worked at Bendix Corp. in Franklin on the assembly line for 20 years, retiring in 1982.
Mary was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church where she sang in the choir. She was a longstanding member of the Veterans of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary and was a life member of the Franklin American Legion Post No. 205 Women’s Auxiliary, where she served as president. Mary enjoyed horse races and playing bridge. Music and dancing were a big part of Mary’s life. She lived to sing.
Friends may call on Monday, February 11, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. A service will be conducted on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, 1200 Park Avenue, Franklin, IN, 46131.
