Jack D. Crider, 80, of Houston, Ind., passed away on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour.
Jack had worked in Indianapolis for Advance Electrotype as a electrotyper for 13 years. He lived in Indianapolis from 1950 to 1963. He had been a contractor since 1969 and was owner of Crider Construction Company. He built the lake and the cottages at Berry Branch Cottages at Houston. He was well known in Jackson County and in Bartholomew County. He served for 35 years as a board member for the Jackson County Water Company. He enjoyed reading and traveling, especially to other countries and he loved spending time with his children and his grandchildren.
Born June 2, 1932 in Jackson County, he was a son of Scott and Myrtle Eileen (Brown) Crider. At Houston, Indiana, he married Thelma L. Fleenor and she survives.

Children: Greg Crider, Cathy (Grant) Schneider and Candace Beard.
Grandchildren: Mitchell Crider, Kelly Schneider (Matthew) Snawder, Jill Schneider (Andrew) Glover, Clayton (Kayla) Beard and Jackson Schneider.
Great-grandchildren: Madison Grace Snawder, Alexa Faith Snawder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Joe Crider; one sister, Phyllis Porch; and one great-granddaughter, Lily Katherine Hope Snawder.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown. On Wednesday, February 20, 2013, the Rev. Kenneth Fisher will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Houston Christian Church. Family and friends may call at the church after 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Houston Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations by given to the Houston Christian Church or Schneck Foundation, Hospice Fund.
