Mabel L. Sisson Frye, age 83, of Columbus, formerly of Brown County and Martinsville, died Sunday afternoon, Feb. 17, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. Born August 25, 1929, in Brown County, she was the daughter of Oral and Florence (Bradley) Voland. She was a homemaker but had formerly worked as a salesperson for Zale's Jewelry in the Edinburgh Mall and as a hostess at the Brown County Inn. She was an avid Bingo player and loved to baby-sit her great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Frye of Columbus; two sons, Albert (Barbara) Sisson of Columbus and Harold (Cathy) Sisson of Greenwood; two daughters, Beverly Harvey of Columbus and Debra Sisson of Knoxville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alvin Sisson, in 1993; one son, Bruce Sisson; one grandson, Thomas Sisson; three brothers, Howard Voland, Elmo Voland and Elmer Voland; and one son-in-law, Larry Harvey.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home in Nashville with Pastor Gary Sisson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Friday at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
