Daniel Bernard Schuetz, 38, died Saturday, February 23, 2013, in Columbus, Ind., of a heart attack while exercising at a local gym. He was born March 14, 1974, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Ronald and Lynne Schuetz of Franklin. He married his beloved wife, Kristin Fellerhoff, on August 14, 1999. She survives along with two loving daughters, Gabriella Marie and Greta Pearl. His family was the center of his life.

Other survivors include his parents, Ronald and Lynne Schuetz of Franklin; siblings, Sarah Schuetz of Asheville, N.C., and Benjamin Schuetz of Indianapolis; his in-laws, Carolyn and John Mulloy of Columbus, Ind., Kara Paciorek of Indianapolis, Kyle Fellerhoff of New York City, Dr. Matt Mulloy of Atlanta, and Chris (Stacy) Mulloy of Carmel; nephews, John Michael and Mitchell Mulloy of Carmel; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Daniel leaves behind friends from every aspect of his life. We will all miss his humor, compassion, wit, intelligence, grace, and his smile.

He graduated from Franklin Community High School in 1992 and Franklin College in 1997. He earned a master's degree in library science from IUPUI in 1999 and graduated from the Indiana University School of Law in 2006.

He worked at the University of Indianapolis Library and the IUPUI Library prior to attending law school. From 2006 to the present, Daniel worked as a public defender in Bartholomew County. He joined Eggers Woods Law Firm in Franklin in 2009. In addition, Daniel taught a year at Franklin College as an adjunct professor in the English Department. He was also a regular contributor to the “View from Mars” column in SHE Magazine.

He shared his love of the arts and nature with his family and friends. Soccer was a passion in his life. He played in local leagues throughout elementary and middle school and indoor soccer in Indianapolis while in high school. He played on the Franklin College soccer team and after graduation assisted with soccer alumni support. He and his wife later coached the FCHS girls’ soccer team and he coached his daughters’ soccer teams in Columbus. He was an avid fan of the Manchester United Football Team.

Daniel and his family enjoyed weekly visits to CrossFit gym, where he honed his abilities as an outstanding athlete. Daniel was an extraordinary family member, teammate, and friend.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street. A private memorial service is planned.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to The Schuetz Family Education Fund at First Financial Bank, 50 N. Ford Road, Zionsville, IN 46077. Cards are available at the funeral home.
