Sally K. Chandler, 72, of North Vernon, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at her residence.
Mrs. Chandler was born on November 23, 1940, in Lawrence County, Indiana, the daughter of Roy and Della Mae Bunch Cummings. She married Jerry Chandler on June 15, 1958, in Lawrence County, Indiana. He survives.
Mrs. Chandler worked for IGA in Columbus, Indiana, and Wal-Mart in North Vernon, Indiana. She was a 1958 graduate of Shawswick High School in Lawrence County, Indiana, and was a volunteer with the Park Theatre Civic Centre in North Vernon, Indiana. She traveled across the United States and Europe on the back of a motorcycle and enjoyed reading, gardening, and watching movies. She was her grandchildren’s biggest fan.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Chandler of North Vernon, Indiana; two daughters, Becky (Mike) Collins of Columbus, Indiana, and B. Dawn Eldridge of Shelbyville, Indiana; two brothers, John (Lana) Cummings of Ellettsville, Indiana, Alan (Connie) Cummings of Bedford, Indiana; three sisters, Maxine Owen of Bedford, Indiana, Norma Stewart of McCordsville, Indiana, and Liz (Ron) Collins of Roachdale, Indiana; four grandchildren, Cameron Collins of New York, New York, Michaela (Caleb) Ayew-ew of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kiel Eldridge of Bloomington, Indiana, and Haley Eldridge of Shelbyville, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Fred Cummings, and a sister, Mary Jo Manion.
Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services to Jennings County Library or the Park Theatre Civic Centre.
