Helen W. Readnour, age 83, of Elwood, died Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood. She was born on April 14, 1929, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Hansell and Bessie (Taylor) Davis. She married Oscar F. Readnour on December 22, 1951.
She retired in 1989 from Arvin Automotive Components in Columbus after more than 35 years of employment. Helen was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hartsville, Indiana. She enjoyed working on various crafting projects and reading and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Helen’s family includes four children, Sue Readnour of Colorado Springs, CO, Linda (husband Steve) Gatewood of Elwood, David Readnour of Brewersville, and Donald Readnour of Elwood; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 30 years, Oscar F. Readnour, who died in 1981; three brothers, Marshall Davis, Edward Davis and Roy Davis; and six sisters, Mary Waterman, Hazel Davis, Minnie Turner, Virginia Lamb, Martha Brough, and Barbara Steele.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday March 7, at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Garner officiating. Burial will follow at Union Presbyterian Cemetery in Decatur County. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
