Della Anna Meyer, age 93, of Batesville, IN, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at St. Andrew's Health Campus in Batesville. Born March 13, 1919, in Batesville, she was the daughter of William and Dora (Selke) Beinke. Della married Clarence Meyer on August 31, 1940, at St. John United Church of Christ, Huntersville.
Like most women of this era, Della loved gardening, tending to her flowers, canning, sewing and quilting. At Easter, she always made matching dresses for her daughters. Della was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, where she was also a member of Loyal Workers. Della and her husband visited the sick and elderly of their church for many years. They were also instrumental in setting up the Harvest Home display in the church each fall, providing most of the produce. She was also a member of the Post Teen Home Economics Club. Most of all, Della loved being with her grandchildren.
Della will be truly missed by her sons, Donald (Suzette) Meyer of Columbus, IN, and Wallace (Eunice) Meyer of Osgood, IN; daughters, LaVonne (Gayle) Sarringhaus of Batesville, IN, DeVota (Gary) Weberding and LuCinda (John) Wilhelm, both of Sunman, IN; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Hilda Thie and infant Bertha Beinke; 3 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ, with burial to follow at St. John Church Cemetery. Rev. David Johnston will officiate.
