Our father, L. Raymond Brown, 66 , of Columbus, became an angel on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 1:23 p.m. at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

He was known to many as Raymond. He was born January 20, 1947 in Adair County, Kentucky.

He was the eldest son of the late Benjamin Harrison Brown and the late Irene Caffee George.

He attended Columbus High School, and was a member of Camon Masonic Lodge #343.

He retired from Reliance Electric on July 1, 1999 as a Machinist where he had worked for 35 years.

Raymond loved and played Bluegrass music.

He enjoyed activities outside, especially fishing.

His biggest joy was in Our Lord Jesus Christ and being surrounded by family and friends.

Those that knew Raymond, loved him.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Scott Harper officiating.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 1 p.m. to time of service Wednesday.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Roger Brown of North Vernon; daughters, Tammy (Danny) Cowan and Sonya (Matt) Harrison, both of Columbus; grandchildren, Brittany (Travis Eaton) Brown of North Vernon and Jacob Rose, Cody Froedge, Jordan Bowman and Skylar Harrison, all of Columbus. Raymond was blessed with two great-grandchildren on September 26, 2012. Twins, Benjamin and Brookelynn Eaton. His siblings Bob (Cathy) Brown of Scottsburg, Sharon (Don) Flowers of Springhill, Fla., Sue (Mike) Bowman and Mickey (Amy) Brown, both of Jonesville.

Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and his best friends, Ruth and Buddy Bohall.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jimmy Brown from Mississippi in September of 2011.
