Betty Lou Yeley, 85, of East County Road 550N, died at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Betty was a lifelong member of Petersville United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and had held numerous offices within the church. She retired from the U.S.D.A. office after 28 years of service.
She also was an active member of Indiana Farm Bureau. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening and just plain hard work. Betty had the gift of hospitality for any and all.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Petersville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jerald Turner officiating. Calling will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Born in Bartholomew County Oct. 13, 1927, Betty was the daughter of Glenn T. Harden and Blanche I. Settle Harden. She married Robert F. Yeley Nov. 10, 1946. He preceded her in death April 26, 2012.
Survivors include a son, Mike (Wilma) Yeley of Hope, IN; grandchildren, Gina (Mike) McGaha of Hope, Indiana, Jackie (Brian) Arnholt of Columbus, Indiana, Amy (Jeremy) Adams of Hope, Indiana, Rebekah (Johnny) Tedder of Hope, Indiana, Stacy (Robert) Stater of Columbus, Indiana, and Matt (Cheryl) Shireman of Columbus, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Clayton Shireman, Garrett McGaha, Jamie Kate McGaha, Nicole Beeker, Carly Beeker, and Adam Arnholt; brothers, Robert G. (Juanita) Harden of Columbus, IN, and Larry F. (Barb) Harden of Columbus, IN; a son-in-law, Steve Shireman of Columbus, Indiana; a brother-in-law, Harold Schroer; and a sister-in-law, Maxine Harden,
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Terrilyn Shireman, on Dec. 25, 2002; brothers, Max Harden and Jim Harden; and sisters, Imogene McNealy, Pauline Redmon, Isabelle Schroer, Evabelle Zeigler, and Carolyn Luther.
