Marshall Allen Stoner, 87, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 6:35 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013 at his residence.
Mr. Stoner was born on July 8, 1925 in Hanover, Indiana, the son of James Allen and Maggie Guynn Stoner. He married Marlene Showers on June 15, 1950 at the First Baptist Church in North Vernon, Indiana; she survives.
Mr. Stoner worked for Dave O’Mara for two years, leaving in 1992, and had previously worked at Dunlop Mechanical in Columbus for 24 years doing heating and air service work; he owned Stoners Heating & Air from 1962 until 1967. He served in the U.S. Army and was a 1943 graduate of Vernon High School in Vernon, Indiana. He was a member of First Baptist Church in North Vernon, Indiana, Plumber & Pipefitters Union Local #440 in Indianapolis, Indiana for 37 years and was a former member of North Vernon Masonic Lodge #59 F. & A.M. in North Vernon, Indiana. He enjoyed NASCAR and foreign cars, racing cars and was an Indiana University fan.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Stoner of North Vernon, Indiana; three daughters, Marshalene (Dean) Evans of North Vernon, Indiana, Marketa Seville of Indianapolis, Indiana and Melissa (Brian) Johnson of Westfield, Indiana; three brothers, Herschel (Norma) Stoner and Jesse (Betty) Stoner, both of North Vernon, Indiana and Norman (Carolyn) Stoner of Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Kristina (Ben) Mosingo–Fitzgerald and Joshua (Cassie) Seville, both of North Vernon, Indiana, Marisa Seville of Indianapolis, Indiana, Zackery Seville of Seymour, Indiana and Riley Johnson of Westfield, Indiana; and two great-grandchildren, Hallie and Paxton Seville, both North Vernon, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Michael Allen and Malcomb Lee Stoner; and one brother, Marvin Stoner.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon, Indiana with the Rev. Mike Cole officiating. Friends may call at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 4 until 7 p.m. and from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery with a member of Matt Hester Post #2021 V.F.W. providing military graveside rites.
