Gary L.Walker, 61, of Columbus, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at IU Health-Methodist in Indianapolis.
Mr. Walker retired from Corning Glass Works in Corning, N.Y., where he was a supervisor in the Steuben Glass Division for 11 years. A 1969 graduate of Columbus High School, he graduated in 1973 from the University of Cincinnati School of Business where he was recruited to wrestle for the Bearcats and was a three-time letter winner.
He helped coach the wrestling team at Columbus East High School for more than 20 years and helped start the wrestling club there. He was a past recipient of the Cramer award.
He enjoyed hunting fishing and sports of any kind.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia L. Sonderman Walker, who he married June 3, 1972, in Cincinnati; his mother, Beverly Garrett of Columbus; brothers, Brian (Susan) Walker of Greenwood and Mark (Julie) Garrett of Columbus; his loving mother-in-law, Billie Sonderman of Fort Myers, FL; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Curtiss J. Walker; his father, Dean Walker Jr.; and his stepfather, Floyd Garrett.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Curtiss and Gary Walker Wrestling Fund or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 until 3 p.m. March 30 with a Celebration of Life service at 3 p.m. A reception will follow. Please join Patty and the family at the Elks Lodge, 4664 Ray Boll Blvd., Columbus.
