Robert F. “Bob” Wallace, 68, of Columbus, died Monday, March 25, 2013, at his home. Mr. Wallace had retired recently from the trucking industry and had farmed for many years.
He loved being outdoors and enjoyed boating, college football and basketball, working in the yard, and spending time with family. He was a member and served on the board of Central Wesleyan Church.
Born in Bartholomew County March 2, 1945, Mr. Wallace was the son of Robert E. and Dorothy E. Everroad Wallace. He married Melody Weidman on April 28, 2007. She survives.
Other survivors include his daughter, Vicki Goddard of Indianapolis; Melody’s son, John Weidman (Maria); two grandsons, Andrew (Teresa) Higham of Rochester, IN, and Nic (Kylie) Higham of Columbus; and three great-grandsons. In addition, he is survived by one brother, Bruce (Cindy) Wallace of Clarksville, TN; three sisters, Bertha Ferguson, Charlotte (Jim) Battin, and Mary Morford, all of Columbus; several nieces; one nephew; and his faithful friend, Kitty Cat.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents and a niece.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and from noon until time of service on Thursday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the family through the funeral home.
