Thomas G. Reeves, 72, of Vernon, Indiana, passed away at 3:19 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Jennings Health Care Center in North Vernon, Indiana.
Mr. Reeves was born April 15, 1940, in Bartholomew County, Indiana, the son of Elihu and Bertha Pittman Reeves. He married Mary Jane Boswell March 1, 1959, at Bethel Baptist Church in Walesboro, Indiana. She survives.
Mr. Reeves worked in the diesel engine testing shop at Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, retiring in 2002 after 43 years. He had previously worked for Stuart for nine years.
He was a member of Risen Savior Bible Church in North Vernon, Indiana, and Diesel Workers Union. He was a 1958 graduate of Columbus High School and enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapshooting 49/50 every time, playing the mandolin with his family and playing with his grandkids. He also was involved in motorcycle racing in the 1960s.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Reeves of North Vernon, Indiana; four sons, James (Kim) Reeves of Butlerville, Indiana, Darrin (Kim) Reeves of Zenas, Indiana, Thomas G. (Carla) Reeves II and Jonathan Reeves, both of North Vernon, Indiana; two daughters, Dana (Mike Dunn) Aldridge of Hayden, Indiana, and Lora (Bruce) Anderson of Dupont, Indiana; five brothers, Oscar “Jerry” (Judy) Reeves, Paul Reeves, Ronnie (Anita) Reeves, all of Columbus, Indiana, Roger Reeves of Butlerville, Indiana, and Stanley (Denise) Reeves of North Vernon, Indiana; two sisters, Judy (Joe) Fields of Florida and Brenda (Robert) Clerkin of Brown County, Indiana; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Allen Reeves.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Revs. Roger Hearne and Bob Reeves officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana.
