Sue Wyman went to Heaven at 5:48 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Sue was born in Marengo, Indiana, at the home of her maternal grandmother and mother. She graduated with academic honors from Marengo High School where she was a cheerleader, a homecoming court princess, and her class secretary. Sue and John Wyman were high school sweethearts and were married February 22, 1963.
She had been a teacher's assistant at Rockcreek Elementary School and a receptionist at Sandcrest Dental. After her retirement, she volunteered and worked for Children's Morning Out and Little Seeds Preschools.
A devout Christian, Sue was baptized at a very early age in Sycamore Creek in Marengo, Indiana, where she attended the Christian Church. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Columbus where she served on the Diaconate Board, taught Sunday and Bible school, and volunteered with the toddlers and nursery. She cherished her time with Walk With Emmaus.
Sue was passionate about her family and friends. She filled many lives with the wealth of wisdom that came from her undying faith in her loving God. Her compassion reached beyond family to so many that needed her touch of kindness.
Sue is survived by her husband of 50 years, John; her children, Angela Kay (Jerry) Adkins of Columbus and Bob (Cheryl) Wyman of Brown County; her grandchildren, Jasmine, Tatum, Wyatt, and Maris; her uncle and aunt, Jim and Charlotte Weathers of Georgetown; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, the Rev. Otho and Alice Jackson; her mother, Mary Alice Jackson; and her father, Bob Satterfield.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Dr. Daniel Cash and Dr. William Griffith officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Just Friends Adult Day Services or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
