Ruth Broyer, 86, of Salisbury, NC, formerly of Columbus, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Autumn Care Health Care Center in Salisbury.
Ruth was a homemaker and also provided child care in her home for 41 years. A longtime member of First Christian Church and Dorcas Circle, she taught preschool at the church for 10 years and was the director of vacation Bible school for 30 years, from 1965 to 1995. She was also a member of Columbus Exchange Club.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street with Dan Wallace officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Mission Fund of the Loyal Couples Class at First Christian Church.

Born in Morgan County Oct. 3, 1926, Ruth was the daughter of Pearl and Sarah Ethel Potter Anderson. She married William L. Broyer Aug. 29, 1948, in Whitaker. He preceded her in death Sept. 8, 1981.
Survivors include a son, Jerald (Sueanne) Broyer, Salisbury, NC; daughters, Jeanette (Greg) Foster, Greensboro, NC, and Juanita (William) Bush, Columbus; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Max (Jackie) Anderson, Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Maxine Wolfe, in 2002; and brothers, James Anderson, in December 1980, and Herbert Anderson in 2010.
