Paul E. Shireman, 89, of Columbus, died at 6:55 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mr. Shireman retired from Cummins Engine Company in Engineering Change Control where he had worked for 44 years. After retiring he was involved in farming and raising Angus Cattle.
He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Union Church, a 50 year member of St. John's Masonic Lodge # 20 and Indianapolis Valley of The Scottish Rite. He was an Air Force veteran of WWII, serving in the Philippines.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike with Pastor Tom Hamblen officiating. Family and friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
St. John's Masonic Lodge will conduct a Masonic service at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant Christian Union Church or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Paul was born in Bartholomew County January 8, 1924, the son of Henry and Mayme Bringman Shireman Jr. He married Lucille Goetz on June 23, 1945.
Survivors include his wife Lucille Shireman; sons Maurice (Janet) Shireman and Mark (Gayle) Shireman, both of Columbus; a brother Ray (Emily) Shireman of Decatur County; a sister Mary Pogue of Franklin; grandchildren Chari (Matt) Hayden of Hebron; Adelaide (Mike) Wetzel of Columbus; Laura (Joe) Green of Avon; Brett (Marin) Updike of Fishers and Ross, Clint and Caroline Shireman, all of Columbus; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Elsie Shireman VanCamp.
