Charles Aldrick Russell, 90, died peacefully while taking a nap after lunch at Zephyr Haven Health and Rehab Center in Zephyrhills, FL, on Friday, March 29, 2013. He died only 6 days after celebrating his 90th birthday. Born March 23, 1923, in Wilfred, IN, he grew up on a farm in Vigo County near Terre Haute, IN. Charles graduated from Rockport High School in 1941. He is a graduate of Marion College and Dayton Theological Seminary. Charles is a WWII Army veteran, serving in the German campaign. He exemplified the American dream that hard work, honesty, persistence, love of family and a deep faith in God will result in success and happiness. During his lifetime, Charles served as a minister for 18 years, director of Lake County Mental Health Association in northern Indiana, and director of Sandy Pines Resort in Michigan. In 1990 he retired and moved to Zephyrhills, FL.

Surviving him are his wife, Virginia Russell; six children - Charlene (Ron) of Louisville, KY, Ronald (Lori) of Pekin, IN, Larry (Shirley) of Scottsdale, AZ, Brian (Terry) of Beech Grove, IN, Brenda (Mark) of Greenwood, IN, and Scott (Tina) of Grand Rapids, MI; three stepchildren - Bruce (Cindy) of Indianapolis, IN, David (Peggy) of Tucson, AZ, and Susan (Carl) of Lansing, IL; 24 grandchildren - Alexa (Steve) of Mesa, AZ, Matthew (Sarah) of Naples, Italy, Brandi (Kent) of Lebanon, IN, Rhett of Indianapolis, Ashley (Wes) of Indianapolis, IN, Bryce (Whitney) of Indianapolis, IN, Blake of Indianapolis, IN, Hollis of Greenwood, IN, Steven (Alexa) of Mesa, AZ, Ryun (Mandy) of Flagstaff, AZ, Brandon of Scottsdale, AZ, Wendy (Brian) of Indianapolis, IN, Aaron of Indianapolis, IN, Megan of Tucson, AZ, Jamie of Phoenix, AZ, Bradley of Phoenix, AZ, Adam of Lansing, IL, Tom of Dyer, IN, Matt of West Lafayette, IN, Tommy, Joshua, Jessica, Merissa, and Elisha, all of Grand Rapids, MI; and 16 great-grandchildren - Christian, Preston, Colton, Teagan, Rowan, Emersyn, Parker, Paisley, Wesley, Steven, Edward, Jordan, David, Stella, Mitchell and Marshall; and two sisters - Laura (Ron) of Naples, FL and Sandra of Indianapolis, IN.

A Memorial Service will be held for Charles at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135 in Greenwood, IN, on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be sent to First United Methodist Church of Zephyrhills, 38635 5th Ave., Zephyrhills, FL 33542, ATTN: Ruth Walker.
