Charlotte J. Gardner, 82, of Westport, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
She was born May 5, 1930, in Colby, Kansas, the daughter of Elmer and Verna (Harris) Faidley, but spent most of her life in Indiana. She married Robert J. Gardner in Decatur County on November 11, 1948. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2005.
Mrs. Gardner worked for Decatur County Memorial Hospital as a nurse’s aide for several years and was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church at Westport where she had served as treasurer. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, plastic canvas and crafts.
Survivors include her daughter, Sheila M. Tryon of Westport; her sons, Michael W. (Jo Ann) Gardner, Garvin E. (Jenny) Gardner and Archie F. (Sharon) Gardner, all of Westport; her sisters, Farene McCullough of Prescott, Arizona, and Eldonna Hutchinson of Highland Park, Illinois; her nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, Meredith H. Faidley.
The funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with the Rev. Glenn Black and the Rev. Jerry Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Aerie Cemetery in Letts. A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Pregnancy Care Center of South Central Indiana.
